BENEDICTA and MARYLAND Catherine Louise (McAvoy) White, 86, died Jan. 3, 2004, in Cheverly, Md. She was born Jan. 2, 1918, in Benedicta, the daughter of Joseph and Beulah (Casey) McAvoy. Catherine resided in Benedicta for most of her life. She was very active in her church community, with family and friends and raising her six children. After the death of her husband, Catherine spent the remaining years of her life visiting with her sons and daughters. She resided with her daughter, Christine Boyd and her husband, Carroll. She is survived by her children, Mary C. Morgan of Greene, Anne R. Thomas and her husband, Lester, of Douglasville Ga., Eugene H. White and his wife, Donna, of Unity, Christine and her husband, Carroll Boyd, of Cheverly, Md., and Angela T. Hansen and her husband, Robert, of Bangor; 12 grandchildren, Charlene, Jacinta, Martin, Angela, Duane, Jennifer, Carmen, Regina, Melissa, Eric, Heidi, and Timothy; 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; three brothers, Leo McAvoy of Dubuque Iowa, John McAvoy of Sherman Station, and Joseph McAvoy of Silver Ridge. She was predeceased by her husband, Herman; son Timothy; brothers, Eugene, Frederick, and Thomas; sisters, Veronica, Laura, Agnes, Margaret and Mary. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Benedicta, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, with Fr. Pare, as the celebrant. A spring interment will be in St. Benedict’s Cemetery. Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Island Falls.
