WADE and WASHBURN George P. Stetson Sr., 79, died Feb. 5, 2008, in Presque Isle. He was born Dec. 1, 1938, in Pownal, the son of the late Warren and Elsie (Briggs) Stetson. Mr. Stetson served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was member of the Advent Christian Church in Wade. George was employed by the U.S. Civil Service at Loring Air Force Base for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman and spent many enjoyable times hunting, fishing, and traveling with his family and friends. He was a member of Washburn Snowmobile Club as well as a life member of the National Rifle Association. Surviving, in addition to his loving wife of more than 58 years, Helen (Celia) Stetson of Washburn; are his daughter and son-in-law, Larina and Gerald Anderson of Madawaska Lake; his two sons and daughters-in-law, George P. and Marilyn Stetson of Waldoboro, and Todd M. and Robin Stetson of Woodland; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, as well as his large extended loving family. Mr. Stetson was predeceased by two sons, Terry and John. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, at the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. George McLaugh-lin officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Extension Cemetery.
