BUCKSPORT – Georgia Elizabeth (Harpe) Gifford, 87, died Jan. 13, 2004, at an Ellsworth nursing facility. She was born May 4, 1916, in Rumford, the daughter of Edward and Elise (Cayer) Harpe. Georgia was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and was active in various organizations in the Bucksport area. She enjoyed doing crafts and was an excellent cook. She is survived by two sons, E. Charles Gifford and his wife, Chris, and Edward Gifford, all of Bucksport; one daughter, Marilyn Dunbar and her husband, Keith, of Bucksport; seven grandchildren, Juelle, Lynne, Gary, Kim, Todd, Mark, and Louanne; several great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Georgia was predeceased by her husband, Charles N. Gifford Jr. in 1979; four sisters, Rita Harpe, Doris Tower, Shirley Gould, and Marlene Leach; a grandson, Scott Gifford. Visitation for family and friends will be 2-4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, at the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Bucksport. Spring interment will be in Silver Lake Cemetery, Bucksport.
