LUBEC – Georgie (Thompson) McLaughlin, 100, wife of the late James McLaughlin, died at home Sept. 7, 2005. She was born Aug. 8, 1905, in Lubec, the daughter of the late Nellie (Hunt) Thompson and Alton Thompson. She graduated from Lubec High School in 1923. Following high school she went to work for the American Can Company as a bookkeeper. In later years, she worked for Tyler Oil Company in Lubec. Georgie enjoyed reading, knitting and crocheting. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grand-children. She is survived by three daughters, Ruth Dobbins and husband, Harlan, of Milbridge, Alta Greenslade and husband, Art, of Oklahoma, Jean Woodruff and husband, Gerald, of Lubec; one son, Lee McLaughlin of Florida; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; one special niece, Carolyn and her husband, John Archibald, of Massachusetts; one special cousin, Clara McCurdy, of Lubec; and one special sister-in-law, Sadie McLaughlin of Livermore Falls. She was predeceased by her husband, Jim McLaughlin, in 1996; five sisters; and one brother. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Christian Temple Church in Lubec.
