WALDO – Gerald Benjamin Hartshorn, 79, died Nov. 6, 2006, at a local health care facility. He was born Sept. 12, 1927, at the family home in Waldo, the son of Leroy and Lottie (Nason) Hartshorn. Gerald was a lifetime resident of Waldo. He enjoyed living on his family farm and was a dairy farmer for all his life. Gerald could always be seen riding around the fields on his tractor. One of his greatest joys was his dog, Holly. He loved to have her around him and liked pulling on her tail. He also enjoyed going for rides with his brother, Maynard, and sitting with his family talking about everything that was going on. He was predeceased by his parents; and brothers, Maynard, Howard and Harold Hartshorn. Gerald is survived by his cousins, Eleanor Hartshorn, Elizabeth Nibby, Harold and Shirley Nason, Harvard Nason, Barbara Nason, Rebecca Nibby, Patricia LeSan, Pamela Nibby, Larry Nason, Betsy LeSan, Louie LeSan and Victor LeSan; special longtime friends, Bruce Benjamin, Jackie Benjamin, David and Kathy Littlefield, John Leadbetter, John Leadbetter Jr., Bobby and Pamela Young, Leland Young, Peter Hawley, Dale and Ellie Farrar and many other family friends. Gerald also had a special fondness for Megan Keene, one of his nurses at Tallpines. She would always go spend time with Gerald on her days off. The family thanks her for being so good to Gerald, caring about him and making his stay at Tallpines a better one. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, at Morrill Village Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Reynolds officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, Belfast.
