BEAVER COVE – Richard Joseph Mangan Jr., 86, died Oct. 29, 2006, in Medford, Mass. He was born Jan. 20, 1920, in Charlestown, Mass., son of the late Richard Sr. and Margaret (Kenny) Mangan. Formerly of Somerville, Mass., and South Boston, he was one of the founding fathers of the town of Beaver Cove. A World War II Army veteran, and past commander of the VFW Logan Post, Somerville, Mass.; he was formerly employed by the Boston Naval Shipyard. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen (Myers); devoted father of Ellen Joyce Cullen and her husband, Gerard, of Middleboro, Mass., and Sheila Mason and her husband, Robert, of Medford, Mass. He was predeceased by a son, Denis; daughter, Margaret Midge Smith and her husband, Brian. He was lovingly known as “Dickie Jo” to his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Louise Delgreco and her husband, Nickolas, of East Boston and William and his wife, Mary, of Arlington. He was a dear uncle of many nieces and nephews and was a brother-in-law to Barbara Shea of Greenville. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at Crosby & Neal, Greenville Chapel, in the Masonic building, 281 Pritham Ave., Greenville. Friends may call 11 a.m. until the time of service.
