VEAZIE – Gerald H. Brilliant, 87, died July 22, 2005, at Maine Veterans’ Home, in Bangor, after a brief illness. He was born Nov. 27, 1917, in Old Town, a son of Frederick and Delia (Lausier) Brilliant. He was a veteran of World War II having served with the U.S. Army, including a tour through the South Pacific. Gerald enjoyed walking, reading, and the simple life. For more than 20 years he had resided in Veazie with his sister, Louise. He is survived by a brother, Norman Brilliant of Old Town; two sisters, Louise Beaulieu of Veazie and Anita Parent of Brewer; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Randolph and Frederick “Junior” Brilliant; and a sister, Germaine Shumway. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Parish with the Rev. Wilfred Labbe, celebrant. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Old Town. Immediately following the service at the cemetery all are invited to return to the Holy Family Parish Center for a light luncheon and continued fellowship.
