CHARLESTON and GLENBURN – Geraldine “Gerri” A. (Bragan) Giles, 77, wife of the late Otis B. Giles, died unexpectedly April 15, 2005, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. She was born July 2, 1927, in Millinocket, the daughter of Lawrence and Pauline (Weed) Bragan. Gerri and Otis raised 45 foster children over the years. She was employed by Sylvania in Bangor for 28 years until her retirement. They enjoyed square dancing and camping with their many friends. She is survived by her daughter, Mary and Barry Higgins of Charleston; granddaughter, Amy and Mike Bishop; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Barrett, all of Kenduskeag; grandson, B.J. and Randa Higgins; great-grandchildren, McKenna and Kylie, all of Charleston; her son, Robert and Carla Bragan of Dover Foxcroft; grandsons, William, Christopher and his daughter, Lexi, and David; sister, Shirley and Francis Harvey of Kenduskeag; brothers, Arthur and Mary Bragan of Reva, Va., Raymond and Mary Bragan of Milo, Alan and Kathy Bragan of Robbinston; sister-in-law, Evelyn and Bob McCullen of Milford; nephew, Rev. Ronald and Mary Marr from New Jersey and their family; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Ronald Libby, pastor of Souls Harbor Ministries, officiating. Interment will be at Maine Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Augusta.
