VAN BUREN – Geraldine “Gerry” C. Martin, 84, died Oct. 20, 2007, at a Presque Isle health care fac-ility. She was born March 9, 1923, in Van Buren, the daughter of Arthur and Eleanor (Cormier) Cyr. Gerry was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, working with the U.S. Army Nurse Corps and was a member of the American Legion Post No. 49, Van Buren. She was a registered nurse, practicing in private and general duty nursing. She was also employed as the district school nurse for MSAD No. 24, Van Buren, for many years. Gerry is survived by two sons, David Martin of Grovetown, Ga., and Paul Martin and his wife, Andrea, of Yarmouth; three grandchildren, Tracy Ann Kamimoto and Galen Scott Martin, both of Fresno, Calif., and Emilie Ann Martin of Yarmouth; three great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Cecile Derosier of Presque Isle; sev-eral nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her hus-band, Emilien Martin in 1997. At her request, there will be no calling hours. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 29, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Interment will be at the Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, Augusta.
