EDDINGTON – Geraldine M. Marino, 78, passed from this world, Sept. 7, 2004, at a Brewer healthcare facility with her children at her side. She was born Feb. 3, 1926, in Bangor, the daughter of Gerald and Dorothy (Hodgins) Gartley. Gerry attended Brewer Schools. She was a riveter during World War II at Bath Iron Works. She then pursued a career in nursing and worked at the Connecticut State Hospital for 23 years as a licensed practical nurse. After she retired her nursing career and moved to Calais, she worked for the Washington County Transportation Service, helping and serving the disabled. When she moved to Eddington, she worked at The Heritage (Meals for ME) in Brewer, as a site manager in the dining room and provided meals to the elderly. Gerry was a member of the North Brewer Eddington United Methodist Church. She was a member of and enjoyed playing cards at the Eddington Salmon Club. She also enjoyed travel, playing beano, ice skating on the Penobscot River, and hunting. Gerry was a devoted mother and was known by her family and close friends as “GG”. She was a cheerful, pleasant, fun loving woman who especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She is survived by one son, Michael J. Marino Jr. of Brewer; one daughter, Dorothy Marino of Eddington and her fianc?, Todd Logan, of Bath; one brother, Joseph Gartley and his wife, Mary Alice, of Lake Placid, Fla.; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Michael J. Marino Sr. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, 2004, at the North Brewer-Eddington United Methodist Church, Route 9, Eddington, with the Rev. Elizabeth Vernon, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshment following the service at the church fellowship hall. Private interment will be in Eddy Cemetery, Eddington.
