CARY PLANTATION – Geraldine Mildred Oliver, 83, died peacefully joining her husband, Alston James Oliver, in eternal paradise with the heavenly Father, surrounded by her family March 8, 2006, at a local hospital. She was born Aug. 13, 1922, at Hodgdon, the daughter of Winfield and Edna (Brown) Scott. Geraldine was a member of the Cary Baptist Church. She worked at various jobs including wall papering, painting, working in potato houses, cooking at lumber camps, the Maine Glove Factory and eventually after receiving her GED in 1989, she worked for CLA until her retirement. She loved to keep busy and help others. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, berry picking, baking, cooking, knitting and keeping up with friends. She would provide for the whole community for there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for the benefit of another soul. Geraldine is survived by two daughters, Diane Hardy and her husband, Wayne, of Nashua, N.H. and Bonnie Quint and her husband, Terry, of Hodgdon; two sons, Alston Oliver II and his wife, Theresa, of Milford and Carl Oliver and his wife, Barbara, of Cary Plantation; seven grandchildren, Ann Hardy, Paul Hardy, Troy Quint, Tony Quint, Alston Oliver III, Carl Oliver Jr. and Sara Oliver; seven great-grandchildren, two brothers, Ellery Scott and his wife, Virginia, of Lincoln and Jack Scott and his wife, Betty, of Hodgdon; one sister, Joan Lindsey of Phenix City. Ala.; a stepmother, Elva Scott of Houlton; a half brother, Lewis Scott of Littleton; step siblings, Richard Scott of Dalton, Mass., Betty Frazel of South Yarmouth, Mass., Ruth Porter of Houlton, several nieces and nephews, many friends and loved ones. She was predeceased by her husband, Alston; two sisters, Phyliss Putnam and Iris Cookson; a brother, Elwood H. Scott; and baby brother, Clayton Scott. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday, at the Dunn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home with the Rev. David Tuttle, officiating.
