BAR HARBOR and MOUNT DESERT – Gerard “Jerry” H. Graves, 64, died April 27, 2006, in Bar Harbor. He was born Oct. 12, 1941, in Bar Harbor, the son of Chandler Tim and Gladys (Small) Graves. He served in Germany, with the U.S. Army, for four years. Jerry operated his own garage on Holland Avenue in Bar Harbor with his friend, Donny Spratt, for eight years. He worked for the Town of Mount Desert for many years doing equipment maintenance, retiring in 1999. Jerry also worked for the Mount Desert school department, driving the school bus. Jerry was an avid fan of Nascar and the Rolling Stones. He is survived by his son, Gerard “Jay” A. Graves and wife, Michelle, of Dedham; one daughter, Tammy and husband, Mike Maren, of Gainesville, Fla.; two sisters, Nancy Graves Doyle of Massachusetts and Betty Ann Graves Doyle of Weatherford, Texas; three grandchildren, Cali, Jordan and Hunter Maren; three nephews, Bruce Doyle and Jay Doyle, both of Texas and Michael Thompson of California; and four nieces, Julee Swanson of Trenton, Joyce D. Meqarite of Texas, Deborah Kane of Northeast Harbor and Sherri Babbag Millis of Massachusetts. Jerry was predeceased by a son, Scott Graves; and a nephew, Stephen James Thompson.
