BROOKLYN, Conn. – Germaine Marie Obermann died peacefully Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, surrounded by her family at Pierce Memorial Baptist Home. She was born Jan. 1, 1918, in St. Leonard, New Brunswick. She was the daughter of the late Rene Bellefleur and Louise Mazzerolle Bellefleur. She married Louis Beaulieu, Feb. 28, 1938, in Van Buren. Louis died July 30, 1965, and she later married Henry Obermann. Marie was employed by Pratt & Whitney for some years and after Henry died in 1969, she moved to Brooklyn, Conn., to be with her children. She later became employed by TVCCA as head cook at their Brooklyn Senior Center facility and for Meals-on-Wheels, and retired at the age of 83. She is survived by her four children, Rita and her husband, Nelson Lajoie, of Brooklyn, Conn., Ken and his wife, Linda Beaulieu, of Andover, Conn., Wayne and his wife, Robin Beaulieu, of Danielson, Conn., and Stephen Beaulieu of Putnam, Conn. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Conrad Bellefleur from Niagara Falls, Canada, Matthieu Bellefleur of the Oblat Missionaries, Richelieu, Quebec, Reno Bellefleur of St. Basile, New Brunswick, and Claude Bellefleur of Sudbury, Ontario. She was predeceased by a grandson, Michael Lajoie; a sister, Mary May; and four brothers, Camille, Emerile, Ronald and Emile. She has touched many lives with her sense of humor and loving spirit, and her family and friends will miss her more than words can say. At Marie’s request, there will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Jan. 12 at Our Lady of LaSalette, Brooklyn, Conn. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of LaSalette in her memory. Tillinghast Funeral Home, 433 Main St., Danielson, Conn., is in charge of arrangements.
