MADAWASKA – Germaine Savage, 98, died peacefully July 13, 2005, at a Madawaska nursing care facility. She was born June 8, 1907, in Frenchville, the daughter of Joseph and Laura “Michaud” Picard. Mrs. Savage was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne of Fort Kent. She was also a past recipient of the Mother of the Year Award. She is survived by one daughter, Jean Young of Redlands, Calif.; and one son, Carl Savage of Fort Kent; four grandchildren, William Jr. and his wife, Susan Young, Laura and her husband, Tim Graham, Richard Young, and Linda and her husband, Ramy Zada; five great-grandchildren, Anthony Young, Brian Young, Matthew Graham, Joshua Graham and Nathalie Graham; four nephews, Harold Daigle, Roderick, Norman and Burns Savage; one niece, Patsy Rowell; and several cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Richard Savage in 1968; one sister, Jeannette Daigle; and one brother, Philemon Picard. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday, at the Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent, and 8 a.m. Monday until time of service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, at the St. Louis Catholic Church with the Rev. Paul Labree officiating. Committal service will follow in the parish cemetery.
