BREWER – Gertrude C. Chalmers, 89, wife of the late John B. Chalmers, died July 18, 2004, at a Brewer healthcare facility. She was born March 12, 1915, in Appleton, the daughter of Harry and Olive (Wood) Fogg. Gertrude was a member of the East Eddington Extension Group. She was manager of the Fanny Farmer Stores in Bangor for several years. Gertrude was dearly loved by all that knew her, a fine caring women free from all prejudice. She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca and Ed Black of Ellsworth, Barbara DeLong of Virginia; two sons, James and Shirley Chalmers of Orrington, Ronald J. Chalmers of Brewer; four grandchildren, Christopher Connor of Brewer, Cathy and Tom Winston, of Brewer, Steven J. Chalmers of Orrington, Cindy and Jim Connor Layton of Alton; four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Mendy, Keira, and Ethan; and a sister, Francis Gerrish of Searsmont. Gertrude was predeceased by a brother, Ormond Fogg; a sister, Madelyn Still; and a grandson, Sean Connor. Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, where funeral services will he held 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, with the Rev. Adam Soderberg, Pastor of the East Orrington Congregational Church, officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith Reception Rooms, 55 South Main St., Brewer, after the service.
