HOWLAND – Gertrude Carver, wife of the late Kenneth Carver, died Nov. 28, 2006, at a Howland nursing home. She was born in Newport, the daughter of Lawrence and Annie Lavway. She went to school in Carmel and Bangor, and graduated from Beal College. Soon after marrying Kenneth Carver of Howland, they moved to Howland to live. She attended the United Methodist Church and was a 25-year member of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the W.S.C.S., the Enfield Elders and Maxfield Christmas Club. She loved to garden and had a passion for all domestic animals. She was predeceased by two sisters, two brothers and a nephew. She is survived by her loving son, John; and many loving nieces and nephews. She is also survived by some cousins. She will be missed by many true and loving friends including, Theresa Thibodeau of Howland and Lorraine Benton of Kenduskeag. At her request there will be no calling hours and no flowers. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, at Hillcrest Cemetery, LaGrange, with the Rev. Maria Guereca officiating.
