HOULTON – Gertrude Henderson, 93, died Oct. 9, 2003, at a local healthcare facility. She was born Aug. 10, 1910, at Houlton, the daughter of James and Bernice (Kervin) Stewart. Gertrude was a member of the Houlton Methodist Church. She taught in the Hodgdon and Houlton area school for more than 32 years. After retiring in 1968, she was a member of the National and Maine Retired Teachers Association. Gertrude is survived by her great-nephew, John Maxell and his wife, Alison, their daughters, Olivia and Delaney, all of Lincoln, R.I.; special friends, Tom and Lynn Weston. She was predeceased by her husband, Irving T. Henderson in 1975; one sister, Clara Maxell; and one nephew, Robert Maxell. A graveside service will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the Linneus Cemetery, with the Rev. Pat MacHugh officiating.
