BEALS – Gilbert A. “Gibby” Alley, 62, passed away Feb. 15, 2005, at Sunrise Care Facility in Jonesport, surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 8, 1943, in Beals, the son of the late Alston J. and Myra L. Alley. Gilbert worked as a commercial fisherman for most of his life. He also worked on the Beals Ambulance service for many years. He loved sports and was an avid Red Sox fan. He is survived by his wife, Donna Alley, of Beals; children, Douglas Alley and wife, Patti, of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., Alonzo Alley of Beals, Phena Alley and friend, Matt, of Steep Falls, Danielle Alley and friend, Sterling, of Machias; very special granddaughter, Morgan Alley, of Santa Rosa Beach; brothers, Maurice Alley and wife, Diane, of Beals, and Raymond Alley and wife, Terri, of Jonesport; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and special friends, Warren Peabody, Judy and Bobby Davis, and Eugene Smith. He will also be remembered with love by a “special daughter”, Jen Hagerthy and her parents, George and Tammy of Stonington. Per Gilbert’s wishes there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at a later date to be announced in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sunrise Care Facility Activity Fund, P.O.
