MILLINOCKET – Phyllis M. Brown, 75, died at a local hospital Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, with her family by her side. She was born March 23, 1929, in Millinocket, the daughter of Irving and Hazel (Clark) Chase. She was the wife of the late John R. “Rip” Brown who died in 2002. Phyllis enjoyed her family and her community. She was a very social person who enjoyed church and going out with friends. When her family was young, Phyllis enjoyed camp and snowmobiling. She and Rip enjoyed camp so much that they would spend complete summers there. A familiar Brown family tradition that Phyllis started was the move from home to camp as soon as school got out for the summer. She was also a wonderful hostess at camp where Chase family reunions were held for many years. She was an ardent Bridge player and was a devoted member of the Millinocket Philharmonic Club. Her main concentration in music was the flute. Phyllis was a member of the First Congregational Church of Millinocket. She was very involved with and had many friends at Meals for Me. She loved animals and was especially fond of her cat, Morris. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Julie Brown, of Millinocket and Mike and Shellie Brown, also of Millinocket; four grandchildren, Erin Brown of Old Town and her fianc?, Noah Lundy, Seth Brown, Noah Brown and Liza Brown, all of Millinocket; a brother, Dr. George and wife, Ruth Chase, of North Carolina and a sister, Rosamond and husband, Irvin Foster, of Florida; a special caring niece, Carolyn and husband, Larry Willinski; several nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005 at the R. L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005, at the First Congregational Church with the Rev. Carolyn Bradley officiating. Spring burial will be in Millinocket Cemetery.
