SEARSPORT – “You never see a motorcycle parked in front of a psychiatrist’s office.” G.J.L. Gilbert J. Lord, or “Gilly” to close friends and family, passed unexpectedly on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2004, in the arms of his wife. He was born Jan. 14, 1946, to Gilbert A. and Lucille L. (Caron) Lord in New Bedford, Mass. He attended Holy Family Catholic School and Newman Preparatory School. He received his bachelors degree from Johnson and Wales College. Gil was in the Army Airborne division in Birkenfeld, Germany. In 1971, he married the love of his life Janine M. Lord (Pineault). Gil worked at St. Lukes Hospital in New Bedford, Mass. for 15 years prior to moving to Searsport, Maine in 1985. Gil could be seen riding his Harley to work at Waldo County General Hospital where he worked from 1986 to present as an executive administrator. Gil had many interests including hiking, fishing, canoeing, trying to hunt, Allagash trips, snow shoeing, target shooting, jazz and blues, his guitars, Harley’s and his Porsche. Gil was a member of Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.), the N.R.A., Searsport Lions Club, the Downeast Region Porsche Club of America, The American Cancer Society, and many other civic clubs. Gil is survived by his wife of 33 years, Janine M. Lord (Pineault); his children, Amy Szabronski and her husband, Michael, of Westminster, Md., Eryn Lord and fianc?, Raymond Porter, of Searsmont; his son, Joseph Patrick Lord and his grandchildren, Krysten, Caleb and Brandon. He has two sisters, Karen Monroe and husband, Glen, of New Bedford, Mass. and Susan Daiber and husband, Paul, of Marietta, Ga.; many nieces and nephews. Gil has adopted family and friends including his Allagash Crew. Friends may call on 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, at the Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave, Belfast, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, with Rev. Steve Nute officiating.
