VAN BUREN – Gilman N. Ayotte, 77, died unexpectedly Oct. 4, 2004, at his Lincoln Street residence. He was born Feb. 7, 1927, in Hamlin, the son of Patrick A. and Phoebe (Martin) Ayotte. He was educated in local schools and worked as a machinist and fabricator in the tool making industry in California for many years. Gilman was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion, Levasseur-Farrell Post No. 49 of Van Buren. He is survived by two brothers, Joel Ayotte and his wife, Mabel, of Van Buren, Eugene Ayotte of East Hartford, Conn.; four sisters, Carmen Ayotte, Yvette Garvey, and Patricia Dumont, all of Wethersfield, Conn., Juliette Ayotte of Oviedo, Fla.; 28 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Claude Ayotte; and by one sister, Mariette Delong. Relatives and friends may call at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren, from 9 a.m. until time of service on Thursday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Committal service and interment will be in the Grande Riviere Cemetery.
