MAPLETON – Gladys L. York, 82, wife of the late Freeman “Teamer” York, died Oct. 2, 2004, at a local hospital. She was born May 29, 1922, in Castle Hill, the daughter of Hadley and Amber (Gillispie) Hilton. She was a long time member of the West Chapman Advent Christian Church. Gladys worked at Tater State in Washburn and then taught Adult Education in Presque Isle for many years. She is survived by a son, Joseph L. York and his wife, Robyn; grandchildren, Katie and Holly York, all of Mapleton; two sisters, Marion Farley and Eunice Lovley, both of Presque Isle; several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Sheila Argraves. Predeceasing her was a sister, Mary York. Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at the West Chapman Advent Christian Church with the Rev. Kenneth Fox officiating. Interment will be in the Castle Hill Cemetery.
