GLADYS M. ‘GAY’ (DAVIS) WHITTON LEOMINSTER, Mass. Gladys M. “Gay” (Davis) Whitton, 70, of 54 Wilder Road, died on Thursday, April 22, 2004, at UMass Memorial Medical Center, University Campus in Worcester, Mass. Mrs. Whitton was born April 22, 1934, in Cherryfield, the daughter of Arthur and Gladys (Willey) Davis and had lived in Leominster, Mass., since 1965. She had been assistant treasurer and bookkeeper at the former W.J. Whitton Insurance Agency in Leominster, Mass., for several years before retiring in 1992. Previously she had worked at the former Foster Grant Co. and at the former Guaranty Bank & Trust, both in Leominster, Mass. She attended Cherryfield Academy, where she was on the girls basketball team. She was an avid football fan, both college and the National Football League, she also enjoyed watching golf and was an avid reader and crossword master. Gay loved animals. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Anthony F.S. Whitton; a stepdaughter, Patricia McMahon of Lynn, Mass.; two stepgrandchildren, Lindsay McMahon and Ryan McMahon, both of Lynn, Mass; a brother, Elwood Davis and his wife, Edith Davis, of Cherryfield; two sisters, Leola Morse of Cherryfield, and Shirley Davis of Milbridge; a sister-in-law, Adelaide Davis of Cherryfield; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three brothers, Luther “Brud” Davis, Harry “Tink” Davis and William “Billy” Davis; and five sisters, Helen Harrington, Marie Leighton, Pearle Ashe, Virginia Davis and Ruthie Davis. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday in the Silas F. Richardson & Son Funeral Home, 106 West St., Leominster, Mass. Burial will be held in Evergreen Cemetery, Leominster. Calling hours will be held 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the Pat Brody Shelter for Cats, P.O.
