WILLIAM ROLAND FARMER HOULTON – William Roland Farmer, 96, died at Houlton on Friday, April 23, 2004. He was born May 29, 1907, in Sherman, the son of Henry and Catherine (Lawler) Farmer. Roland was a graduate of Sherman High School and attended Maine School of Commerce. He proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. Roland was a member of the Sherman VFW and held the Boston Post Cane as the oldest resident of Sherman. He was a potato broker and farmer. Roland was predeceased by his wife, Marie (Mahoney) Farmer, who died in 1966; his sisters, Marie Whited, Marguerite Whited and Hazel Farmer; his brothers, Clarence, Maurice, Cecil and Leo. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Pauline Farmer of Sherman; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call 10-11 a.m. Monday, at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, Benedicta, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday with the Father Richard Malo celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Benedict’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to the Sherman Area VFW or the charity of one’s choice, care of Bowers Funeral Home, P.O.
