DEXTER – Gladys M. Tarr, 93, went to be with the Lord, Jan. 28, 2006, after a brief illness. She was born Dec. 7, 1912, at Sangerville, a daughter of Eugene and Lottie (McKenney) Hall. She attended Sangerville schools and worked at Fay & Scott Machine Shop and Hall’s Canning Factory during World War II. Gladys retired from Dexter Shoe Company in 1974. She was a member of the Charleston Pentecostal Church. Gladys is survived by two sons, Donald and wife, Linda, of Unity and Richard of Waterville; two daughters, Phyllis and husband, Philip Cleaves, of Dexter and Sharon Vigue of Winslow; two sisters, Inez Newman of Massachusetts and Arlene Giles of Dexter; 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Friends may call 2-5 p.m. Tuesday, at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main St., Dexter, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, with the Rev. Ronnie Libby, officiating. Spring burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. Family and friends are invited for light refreshments and conversation at the First Free Baptist Church, 130 Spring St., Dexter, following the funeral.
