OLD TOWN – Gladys Marie Adams, 96, wife of the late Leroy Adams, died peacefully Sept. 4, 2004, at an Orono healthcare facility. She was born March 8, 1908, in Old Town, the oldest child of Frank X. and Eva (Pelletier) Paradis. Prior to marriage and children, Gladys worked as a waitress. Following her marriage to Leroy H. Adams she became a very proud homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her family. She was an avid reader and an excellent cook. She was a faithful catholic and a member of the Daughters of Isabella and a member of the Old Town Grange. Mrs. Adams was a modern lady and a strong and precise woman. She is survived by two daughters, Elayne Sorrells and her husband, Calvin, of Euless, Texas, Charlotte Spencer and her companion, Edmond Doucette, of Milford; a brother, Frank X. Paradis Jr. and his wife, Sammie, of Dallas, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Christine English, Kathy Cooper, Jimmy Sorrells, Steven Sorrells Karla Sorrells, Louis Summerton, Rodney Summerton, all of Texas, Scott Koenig of Pennsylvania, Melissa Spencer and her companion, Jim Bracy, of Levant, Barbara Ireland and her husband, Danny, of Lincoln, Jimmy Spencer and his wife, Erica, of Passadumkeag, Sally Niles of Bangor; 20 great-grandchildren, five great-stepgrandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren, four great-great-stepgrandchildren; a son-in-law, Henry Spencer of Passadumkeag; a brother and sister-in-law, Homer and Phyllis Adams of Greenbush; and a sister-in-law, Marguerite Adams of Veazie; cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Leroy Adams; a daughter, Carole Koenig; grandson-in-law, Wayne Spencer; great- granddaughter, Jamie; two sisters, Freda King and Velma Roy; and a brother, Clarence Paradis. A memorial mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Parish with the Rev. Norman Richard, celebrant. Immediately following the mass all are invited to return to the Holy Family Parish Center for a light luncheon and continued fellowship. A committal service will be conducted 12:30 p.m. at the Olamon Cemetery.
