BRUNSWICK, Ga. – Gladys Virginia Cromer Highsmith, 84, died Jan. 31, 2006, in Brunswick. A native of Cedar Bluff, Alabama, Mrs. Highsmith had made her home in Brunswick, Ga. since 1960, moving from Rome, Ga. She was formerly associated with Sea Pak Corporation for many years. She was a member of First Assembly of God. Mrs. Highsmith was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Jessica Lazore. Surviving is one daughter, Wilda Carstensen, Eddington; five grandchildren, Dawn Stevens, Bangor, Charles Lazore, Summerville, S.C., Rhonda Rand and Jake Carstensen, both of Eddington, and Tracy Bogan, Brewer; nine great-grandchildren, Cristina Lazore, Stephanie Carstensen, David Bouchard, Nick Bouchard, Stephanie Lazore, Stephen Lazore, Anthony Nickerson, Cody Bogen and Mindy Bogen; several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Ricky Culver (Linda) of Brunswick, Ga.; and a special niece, Glenda Dickens of St. Simons Island, Ga. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Thursday, at the Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, Brunswick, Ga. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow in Palmetto Cemetery.
