WINSLOW – Glenn Edgar Getchell, 62, died unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, at his home. He was born July 19, 1944, in Patten, to Glenwood Getchell and Odie (Richards). He attended Myrick Grammar School, Mount Chase. He moved to St. Albans in 1958, attending school at Hartland Academy. He worked at Irving Tanning, Hartland and Northeast Shoe, and was self-employed as a woodsman. He was a member of the Palmyra Road Committee. He played guitar, liked to sing, enjoyed gardening, bird watching, camping, fishing and hunting. Glenn is survived by his daughters, Lori-Ann Willey and her husband, Paul, of Palmyra; Lora-Jean Getchell of Dover Foxcroft and Katrina Getchell of Lakeland, Fla.; his life partner of 11 years, Kathie Elvin; sons, Nathan Tyler and wife, Jenn, Erik Tyler and wife, Tammy; by his sisters, Lillian Gifford and husband, Scott, of Hartland and Annie Fish of Mesquite, Texas; brothers, Darrell Getchell and wife, Kiyo, of Midwest City, Okla., and Terrence Getchell and friend, Tina, of Oxford; four grandchildren, Alanda Duplisea and her husband, Brian, of Palmyra, Joshua Willey of Palmyra, Brianna Bean of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Sydney Keller of Lakeland, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, Autumn and Ellie Duplisea of Palmyra; three aunts, Celia Hewins and Faye Vanadestine of Hartland, Arvella Jones of Palmyra, and several nieces and nephews; the mother of his children, Phyllis (Hamm, Getchell) Jones. He was predeceased by his parents; and a granddaughter, Dawn Willey. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville. Burial will be held after at Howard Cemetery, Winslow. In lieu of flowers you may donate to your favorite charity in Glenn’s name.
