GLORIA A. LYONS TRENTON – Gloria A. Lyons, 55, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2003, at a Bangor hospital, following a brief battle with lung cancer. She was born in Ellsworth, March 24, 1948, the daughter of Alison S. and Ida L. (Moon) Lyons. Gloria worked at Jackson Lab for 13 years, where she had made many advances, and most recently was working in the Cryo Laboratory as a technician. She was a strong advocate for stem cell cancer research. Gloria was a Den Leader for the Hancock Troop of Boy Scouts, of which her grandsons were members. She was also a faithful blood donor to the American Red Cross. Gloria is survived by a son, James Day and his wife, Bobbie Jo, and their children, Sarah and James, Jr.; a daughter, Rene Becker and her husband, Ronald, and their children, Brandon, Joshua, and Jessica, all of Lamoine; a step daughter, Melissa Pinkham and her husband Dwayne, and their children, Emily, Melanie, and Dwayne, all of Franklin; two brothers, James Lyons and his wife, Penny and their children, Laura and Amanda, all of Trenton; and John Frye and his wife Laura and their children, Desiree and Brock, all of Franklin; and many special friends and family members, Shirley Moon, Myrna Parker, Liz Libby, Jim and Linda Rich and family, Roy Coombs, Patricia Faulkingham, Edward Griffin, Robert Anderson, Terry Robbins, Lucky and Diana Day and family, Erwin York, and her supervisor, Sian Clements. She was predeceased by her husband, James Donald Day; a stepson, Raymond York, and a stepgrandson, Raymond York, Jr. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth.
