She was born Sept. 7, 1931, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of the late Laura and Stewart Conley. She lived in the Guilford area all of her life, working for Hardwood Products for more than 50 years. She looked forward to Saturday evening drives to Greenville for dinner with her husband, Dick, and long time friend Richard “Beetle” Nesbit. She was well known for her hard work and honesty; she will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Gloria was predeceased by her mother and father; a brother, Larry “Sunny” Conley; and a sister, Lauris Conley. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Richard “Dick” Knowles of Guilford; her two sons, Larry Knowles of Guilford, and Mickey Knowles and his wife, Jeanne, of Abbot. She has four grandchildren, Chris Knowles and his wife, Tammy, of Sebec, Jamie Knowles of Connecticut, Jody Knowles and his wife, Kasey, of Glenburn and Adam Knowles of Abbot; several great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; and her beloved companion, “Cat.” In keeping with Gloria’s wishes, there will be no memorial service at this time. A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Blanchard Cemetery in Abbot. Gloria’s family wishes to thank all of the C.A. Dean staff for their compassionate care throughout her illness.
