MARS HILL and NEWPORT Gloria M. Fletcher, 74, died June 5, 2008, at Mars Hill Nursing Home after a long illness. She was born May 18, 1934, in Mars Hill, the only child of Jack F. and Mabel (Kinney) Gilman. In later years, she and her husband, Ivan, built their home behind Mars Hill Mountain, and enjoyed many hours fishing and just being together. Gloria was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband and best friend of 57 years, Ivan H. Fletcher Jr. of Mars Hill; one son, Skip Fletcher and his wife, Patti, of St. David; a daughter, Wanda Fletcher of Englewood, Ohio; a granddaughter, Marsha Robichaud and her husband, Jake, of Fort Kent; a grandson, Scott Fletcher and his fiancee, Emily Daigle, of Fort Kent; three very special great-grandchildren, Isaac, Mark and Rebekah Robichaud of Fort Kent; three brothers-in-law and their wives, George and Norma Fletcher of Palmyra, Harold and Barbara Fletcher of Newport and Robert and Belinda Fletcher of Hartland; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Smith of Kansas City, Mo., and Janet Philbrick and her husband, Walter, of Palmyra; and a dear friend since grammar school, Louise Savage of Stetson. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 8, at Duncan Funeral Home, 8 Main St., Mars Hill, with Pastor Robert Chamberland officiating. Friends may call 1 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Monday, June 9, at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Newport, with Pastor Al Worden officiating. Interment will take place after the service at Palmyra Village Cemetery.
