VAN BUREN and NORTH PALM BEACH, Fla. – Gloria Plourde Cyr, 73, passed away April 28, 2007, after a long illness. She was born April 13, 1934, in Van Buren, daughter of Clifford and Janet (Paradis) Plourde. She was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy of Portland and received an associate’s degree from Fisher Junior College of Boston. She married Russell C. Cyr, Sept. 25, 1956, and together they resided in Van Buren. While in Van Buren, Gloria worked for many years as a medical transcriptionist before taking a position in the library of the local high school, where she served for 10 years. After relocating to Florida in 1984, she was employed at North Palm Beach Public Library until her retirement in April 2005. Gloria was an energetic woman who enjoyed books, music, walking, swimming, and visiting her children and grandchildren. She loved her family and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Russ; two daughters, Lori C. Antz and her partner, Fred Wappler, of Dover-Foxcroft and Nokomis, Fla., and Janet C. Helfrecht and her husband, Chris, of Jupiter, Fla.; three sons, Charles R. Cyr of Van Buren, Keith P. Cyr of Loveland, Colo., and Myles D. Cyr of Miami; five grandchildren; two sisters, Lillian Richards of Sarasota, Fla., and Rachel Plourde of Hampden; three brothers, Daniel Plourde of Caribou, David Plourde of Bangor and Michael Plourde of Caribou; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Eugene Plourde, in 1989, and Richard Plourde, in 2000. A funeral Mass will be celebrated in Van Buren this summer at a date and time to be announced.
