DOVER, N.H. – Gordon K. Welner, 86, of Central Towers, died Sept. 18, 2006, at Rochester Manor, after a short illness. Born Oct. 9, 1919, in Pittsfield, he was the son of Harold and Jessie Welner. He resided for several years in Barrington, N.H., before returning to Dover, N.H., in 1987. He was a graduate of Dover, N.H. High School, Class of 1939. Mr. Welner was employed by Western Union for 32 years, starting as a bicycle messenger, then an operator in Dover, N.H. He was office manager in cities in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts, retiring in 1972 from Lowell, Mass. He was a member of the Dover Baptist Church. He is survived by nephews, David Whitehouse of Rochester, N.H. and Robert Whitehouse of Keene, N.H. There are no calling hours. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at Pine Grove Cemetery, Barrington, N.H. Flowers are gratefully declined, but friends and family may make donations in his memory to their favorite charity.
