BREWER and BANGOR Grace B. Bolduc, 85, beloved mother, grand-mother and great-grandmother, went home to be with her Lord May 12, 2007, surrounded by her family. Born April 2, 1922, in Brewer, the daughter of Phillip and Margaret Mather Robertson, Grace was raised in South Brewer. One of 12 children, Grace was predeceased by her brothers, Jim, David, Henry, Harry, Alvin, Calvin, Philip, Floyd, Earl and Duncan; and her sister, Norma. She met and fell in love with her husband, Charles S. “Charlie” Bolduc, also of Brewer. They both served honorably during World War II, Grace in the Women’s Army Corps and Charles in the Navy. Grace was still stationed in Pine Bluff, Ark., when Charles completed his service and traveled to Arkansas to marry the love of his life in a simple wedding decorated in red, white and blue with roses. They returned to South Brewer to raise their children and moved to Plattsburgh, N.Y., from 1968 to 1972, before returning to Maine. After she lost Charles in 1985, she always remained faithful to him, her one and only love, for the rest of her life. She was also predeceased by her lifelong best friend, Althea Andrews Watters, with whom she shared a love of laughter and family; and her dear friend, Frances “Mum” Vachon. Grace was deeply devoted to her family and her community, she worked as a crossing guard at St. Teresa’s School, at Tucker’s Shoe Factory and as a supervisor at Dow Air Force Base Commissary. She was a loyal parishioner and Eucharistic minister for St. Teresa’s Cath-olic Church for many years. Grace loved going to the camp that her husband built for their family on Brewer Lake, Eddington, where they enjoyed fishing, boating and swimming, and then saw that tradition carried on when her two sons owned camps on Beech Hill Pond, where she enjoyed spending time. A bingo enthusiast, Grace won many Thanksgiving turkeys for her family, and spent countless hours socializing before the bingo games even commenced. Truly the life of every party, Grace had a magical presence that made all those around her feel welcomed as family. She was known for her compassion, fairness and independence and became the strong foundation that kept her family members close no matter how far the distance between them. She assumed the role of family matriarch, and selflessly nurtured and cared for all. Tremendously generous, she always gave friendship and kindness to those in need. She helped raise her eight grandchildren and could be seen cheering them on at their dance recitals, school plays and sporting events. She also loved making up games and sharing engaging stories with her grandchildren and their friends. A longtime resident of the Bangor House, Grace was loved by all who knew her for her vivacious spirit and unique sense of humor. She is survived by her three children, Charles Bolduc, Robert Bolduc and Bonnie Irwin; her eight grandchildren, Mike Bolduc, Janelle Bolduc, Randy Bolduc, Andrea Irwin, Lauren Bolduc, Rachel Irwin, Kim Bolduc and Samantha Bolduc; and her two great-grand-children, Mya and Tyler; many nieces and nephews, who she loved and cherished. She will be greatly missed. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated 10 a.m. Monday May 14, at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, 425 South Main St., Brewer, with the Rev. Thomas F Farley, celebrant. Friends may call 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. Monday at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments 3 p.m. Monday at Bonnie Irwin’s home, in Brewer. Gifts in her memory may be sent to American Cancer Society, One Main St., Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.
