EAST MILLINOCKET – Guido P. “Vetal” Ciarrocchi, 85, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, at his home. He was born May 19, 1921, in Dolby, the son of Nicola and Casilde (Massarroni) Ciarrocchi, who were immigrants from Italy. Vetal was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving in the 101st Airborne Division, the “Screaming Eagles,” as a paratrooper. After his time of service, Vetal returned to East Millinocket, where he operated Ciarrocchi’s Pool Hall for many years. His kindness and generosity as a local business owner endeared him to many members of the community of East Millinocket. Due to illness, he retired in 1970, and resided with his daughter and her family until the time of his death. Vetal was a loving and caring father, grandfather and great-grand-father. His family was the most important thing in the world to him. Vetal was a communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, East Millinocket. He is survived by a daughter, Donna Duffy of East Millinocket; two cousins, who were raised as his sisters, Nina Pollak of New York and Camella Cushing of New Hampshire; two grandsons, Jason Duffy and his wife, Renae, of East Millinocket and Scott Duffy and his wife, Billie Anne, of East Millinocket; a great-grandson, Jesse Duffy; a sister-in-law, Hilda Ciarrocchi of East Millinocket; his former wife, Mona King and her son, Gregory, both of East Millinocket; a special friend, Kristie Deschaine of Millinocket; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Vetal was predeceased by three brothers, Gene, Joe and Robert Ciarrocchi; and one cousin, who was raised as a brother, Anthony Chulli. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 58 Cedar St., East Millinocket. Interment with military honors will be held after the service at East Millinocket Cemetery, East Millinocket.
