CHERRYFIELD – Guy Almon Sargent Sr., 77, died Monday, May 22, 2006, at an Ellsworth hospital after a sudden illness. He was born April 16, 1929, in Watseka, Ill., the son of the late Ansel and Blanche (Wakefield) Sargent. Mr. Sargent was the past commander of the VFW Post No. 11553 of Harrington. He was an over the road truck driver for more than 50 years. Mr. Sargent enjoyed camping, NASCAR and drove stock cars for many years. He shared 59 years of marriage with Marilyn (Vaughn) Sargent. In addition to his wife, family members include his children, Lynne West and her husband, David, Judi Miller, Guy A. Sargent Jr. and John K. Sargent; grandchildren, Shawn Haley and his wife, Sandy, Steven Haley and his wife, Trina, Patti Young, Tim Hosbach and companion, Buffy Plourde, David Andrew West, Jean Sargent, Brian Cunningham and his wife, Jessica, Marilyn Watson and her husband, Gary, Aaron Sargent and his wife, Kristy, Andrew Sargent, Keith Sargent, Shylo Sargent, Tommy Sargent, Jack and Megan Morin; great-grandchildren, Scott and Heather Young, Felicia and Stanley Sargent, Mathew and Austin Stover, Ryan and Tiffany Hosbach, Jordyan, Kaylah and Jenifer Haley, Tyler Sargent, Christopher, Nicolas and Micah Watson, Coby, Jenna and Krystina Cunningham, Alexis, Allyssa, Audrey and Megan Sargent; and a sister, Pauline Benson, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Guy will be remembered by a very special friend, Charlie Tozier. He was predeceased by two daughters, Dianne Carol Haley and Paula Dale Sargent; a son, Robert Sargent; two grandsons, Robbie Sargent and Lucas Sargent-Dall; one granddaughter, Ida Mae West; three brothers, James, Eugene and Paul Sargent. A service of remembrance will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 27, at the Downeast Christian Church, Marshville Road, Harrington. Relatives and friends are invited.
