MEDWAY – Guy E. York Sr., 89, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005. He was born Jan. 12, 1916, in Medway, the son of Rodney and Hattie (O’Donal) York. He was the beloved husband of the late Josephine (Burby) York, who died in 2004. Guy was a longtime resident of Medway where he and his wife raised a family of four. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps. World War II veteran and a lifetime member of the American Legion. Guy and Josephine were both founding members of Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church in East Millinocket. He served his church for many years as a deacon and served on it’s board of directors for more than 20 years. Guy worked at Great Northern Paper Company’s East Mill for more than 40 years where he worked in the boiler room prior to his retirement. He was a man who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He especially loved his grandchildren and enjoyed participating in Sunday school activities with other children. He is survived by his children, Guy E. York Jr. and wife, Mary, of Rialto, Calif., Thurza and husband, Donald Frost, of Springhill, Fla., Elizabeth and husband, Victor Montgomery, of Newport Beach, Calif. and Stephen M. York and wife, Laurie, of East Millinocket; 12 grandchildren, Suzette, Cathy, Jonathan, Donald Jr., Diane, Linda, Rodney, Stephanie, Nichole, Stephen Jr., Jason Guy and Donald; 22 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grand-children; one brother, Marshall York; sisters, Elsie Lyons, Wilda Grinslade, Cordelia Cook and Priscilla York; many nieces and nephews. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at R.L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, at Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church, Orchard Street, East Millinocket, with Pastor Regginal Adams officiating.
