LEE – Gwendolyn “Gwen” Ruth Dicker, 73, wife of Kenneth Dicker, passed away Sept. 11, 2006, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Dec. 14, 1932, in Howland, the daughter of Horace and Pauline (Shortman) Aldrich. Gwen was a 1951 graduate of Lee Academy. She had worked as a nurse’s aide at Colonial Acres and also as a cook at Lee Academy. Gwen’s happiest moments were those spent with her family; she loved her family very much. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 55 years, who loved and adored her with all of his heart. Gwen was his first and only true love. She was the best mom in the whole world with her understanding, loving and caring ways. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, going shopping, and Beano at the Springfield Fair. In addition to her husband, Kenneth, she is survived by four children, Randall Dicker and his wife, Patty, of Albion, Annette Ham and her husband, Larry, of Chester, Paula Braley of Lee and Ryan Dicker and his wife, Holly, of Danforth; a sister, Joyce Cole and her husband, Lee, of Gorham; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She also leaves special friends, Irene Charette, Nellie Stevens and Roberta Murray. Visitation will be private.
