BANGOR and DEXTER – H. Edward Payne, 58, died Jan. 11, 2007, surrounded by his family at the VA Medical Center, Togus. He was born Dec. 11, 1948, in Dexter, son of the late Harold and Sylvia (Clukey) Payne. Ed grew up in the Dexter area and attended Dexter schools. He joined and served in the U.S. Marine Corps, and was wounded in Vietnam. Later in life he became disabled from his service-related injuries. He is survived by his loving wife, Melody (Worster) Payne of Bangor; a son, Jason and his wife, Denise Payne, of Bangor; a daughter, Kiley and her fiance, Jack Kelly, of Bangor; two brothers, Peter and his wife, Kathy Payne and Andrew Payne; an aunt, Winnie Daigle, all of Dexter; special mother-in-law, Avis Worster of Brownville; nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main St., Dexter, with Jeff Lewis officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home an hour before the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in his memory to the Disabled American Veterans’.
