HOULTON – Herbert Paul Tidd, 69, died March 8, 2007, at a local hospital. He was born March 15, 1937, in Houlton, the son of Willie P. and Gladys E. (MacDonald) Tidd. Paul was a member of Saint Mary of the Visitation Church. He was a truck driver for more than 30 years, driving several years for Walter Davis and then with Hartts Trucking, he was known up and down the road as the “County Clipper.” He was a Little League coach, Cub Scout Leader, loved playing softball and watching any type of sport, he even enjoyed going to horse shows. His greatest joy was his family. Paul is survived by his wife, Bernice “Bunny” (Clark) Tidd of Houlton; two sons, Michael Tidd of Houlton and Peter Tidd and his wife, Allison, of York; his daughter-in-law, Theresa Tidd of Unica, Calif.; his stepmother, “Gram Tidd,” Mildred Tidd of Houlton; mother-in-law, Leona Clark of Houlton; five grandchildren, Isabella, Tyrel, Miranda, Jacob and McKenzie; two sisters, Carol Brackett and her companion, Ted Jones, of Sun City, Ariz., Billie Mae Mitchell and her husband, Donnie, of Houlton; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and his son, Herbert Tidd Jr. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Dunn Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday at Saint Mary of the Visitation Church with the Rev. Eddy Morin, celebrant. Interment will be at Saint Mary’s Cemetery.
