LINCOLN – Harland E. Stevens, 78, husband of Grace (Gerry) Stevens, died June 16, 2004, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born in Lincoln, Feb. 27, 1926, the son of Harold and Beryl (Leathers) Stevens. Harland was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and earned the Purple Heart Award for being wounded in action. He was employed for 30 some years as a scaler for Dead River. In addition to his wife, Grace, he is survived by a son, Bruce Stevens and his wife, Laura, of Torrington, Conn.; a daughter, Sue Andrews of Bangor; four grandchildren, Shannon and Nicholas Stevens, Lindsay Lenfest and her husband, Sam, and Stacie Andrews-Easler and her husband, Ben Easler; three great-grandchildren, Chance Morse, Kaleb Lenfest and Darren Easler; a brother, Richard Stevens and his wife, Judith, of Corinth; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Faye Miller; two brothers, Howard and Roger and a son-in-law, Carl Andrews. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Darrell Joiner officiating.
