ROCKLAND – Harold D. Mann, 62, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, after a brief illness. Born May 17, 1943, in Geneva, N.Y., he was the son of Harl and Viola Allen Mann. Educated in local schools, he was a graduate of Geneva High School, Class of 1961. That same fall he began studies at Pennsylvania State University. His education was interrupted by service in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era. In 1974, he graduated with a degree in business administration and accounting. December 17, 1966, he married Linda Ames at Mount Calvary Episcopal Church, Camp Hill, Pa. The Mann’s made their home in Camp Hill until moving to Rockland in July 2004. In 1974, Mr. Mann began employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Auditor General. During this time he successfully completed examination and licensure as a certified public accountant. He later transferred to the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, working as a CPA until retiring in December 2003. While living in Camp Hill, he was an active member of Mount Calvary Episcopal Church. After moving here, he volunteered with Knox County Democrats and enjoyed serving as a driver with the Meals-On-Wheels program. He was also an active member at St. Peters Episcopal Church. A few of Mr. Mann’s pastimes included photography, feeding wild birds, listening to music and doing crossword puzzles. In addition to his wife of Rockland, Mr. Mann is survived by two sons, Christopher A. Mann of Portland and Jonathan D. Mann and his wife, Lynn, of Danbury, Conn.; one brother, Philip Mann and his wife, Joan, of Douglasville, Ga.; his father-in-law, George Ames of Thomaston, as well as several nieces and nephews. A Eucharistic Celebration will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at St. Peters Episcopal Church, White Street, Rockland. The Rev. Dr. Ralph Moore will officiate. Interment will be in Achorn Cemetery, Rockland. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Meals On Wheels, care of Methodist Conference Home, 36 Summer St., Rockland, ME 04841. Arrangements are in the care of Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St., Rockland.
