NEWPORT – Harold E. Parker, 77, died Aug. 30, 2005, at a Pittsfield hospital, after a short period of ill health. He was born Oct. 7, 1927, in Corinna, the son of Clifford W. and Laura (Hatch) Parker. He was educated in local schools and attended two years of high school at Newport High, and finished his last two years and graduated from Guilford High School, Class of 1947. Harold was a Korean War veteran serving in the Army from 1948 until 1952. He was employed as a long haul truck driver, driving tractor-trailers across the country for many years. He is survived by two sons, Clifford Parker and his soon to be wife, Nancy, of Bath, Brian Parker of Rochester, N.H.; one daughter and her husband, Phyllis, and Daniel Proulx of Barnstead, N.H.; two sisters, Mabel Bradford of Newport, and Eunice Potter of Alna; seven granddaughters; one grandson and two great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1 at the Brown Funeral Home, 34 High St., Newport. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday at the Brown Funeral Home, Newport, with Pastor Al Worden officiating.
