PRESQUE ISLE – Harold G. Lainey, 78, died Aug. 1, 2007, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Dec. 5, 1928, in St. Hilare, Quebec, the son of Alphie and Alice (Dubois) Lainey. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Harold had been employed as a mechanic at Silvers Garage for 14 years and at Sears for 25 years, until his retirement. He was a member of Ray Goding Post No. 88, American Legion, where he spent many enjoyable hours playing pool or just talking with his friends. Harold loved riding his moped and watching harness racing, but most of all he loved his family and spending time with them. He was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Lainey; a brother, Roderick Laine; and a sister, Mabel LaChance. Surviving him are his wife, Jeanne D’Arc (Caron) Lainey; children, Larry Lainey and his wife, Elaine, of Conway, S.C., Rena Carlin and her husband, Scott, of Mapleton and Danny Lainey and his wife, Jennifer, of Yarmouth; grandchildren, Peter and Lynda and their children, Oliviya and Addison; grandchildren, Chris, Chad, Nicholas, Connor and Jason; four brothers, Joe Laine of Lawton, Okla., Leo James Lainey of Shepardsville, Ky., Gilman Lainey of Pennsaconti, Pa., and John Lainey of Plainville, Conn.; a sister, Mildred Dubois of Plainville, Conn.; his mother-in-law, Cecile Caron of Madawaska; several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Raymond Morency, celebrant. A reception will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall immediately after the service. A military committal service will be held 1 p.m. at the Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, Caribou.
