PRESQUE ISLE – Harold G. Slipp, 87, the only son of Robert R. and Ora (Trafford) Slipp, died Feb. 5, 2007, at Maine Veterans’ Home, Caribou. He was a graduate of Fort Fairfield High School and Acadia University, Wolfville, Nova Scotia, in 1942, and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force immediately after graduation. He was active in flying and instructing in four-engine aircraft, and after his promotion, Maj. Slipp was commander of a B-29 crew stationed at Guam Air Force Base. After the war, he returned to Fort Fairfield, where he was active in business and community affairs until 1967. He was then employed by SAD No. 20 as a mathematics teacher at Fort Fairfield High School, until retirement. He and his wife, Stew, lived in Florida and Portage Lake and settled in Presque Isle in 1985. Harold is survived by his wife, Edith Stewart Slipp; one son, Robert and his wife, Vica; a granddaughter, Laura; and a grandson, Peter. There will be no calling hours. A graveside memorial service will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield, at a later date.
