CARIBOU – Harold J. Martin, 79, husband of the late Viola Martin, died, Feb. 19, 2005, at a Caribou health-care facility. She was born Nov. 3, 1925, in Wallagrass, the son of Joseph and Modeste (Bouchard) Martin. He was educated in the Eagle Lake school system and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed by several area potato farmers and was also employed at Tater State. He was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Washburn and was a member of the Lister-Knowlton Post No. 9389 VFW in Caribou. He is survived by two sons, Carroll Martin of Florida and Michael Martin of Washburn; three daughters, Susan Espling of Perham, Linda Vaillincourt of Washburn and Patsy Gamblin of Woodland; three brothers, Albert Martin of Houlton, Norman Martin of Ashland and Paul Martin of Kokomo, Ind.; two sisters, Rolande Woodworth of Charleston, W Va. and Blanche Lajoie of New York; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; five great-stepgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Roger Dale Martin; a brother, Reginal Martin; and three sisters, Della Fuller, Theresa Gamblin and Lottie Blanchette. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou with evening military services being held at 7 p.m., by the officers and members of the VFW. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, from the chapel of the Mockler Funeral Home, with the Fr. Chanel Cyr, officiating. Spring interment will take place at the Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery.
