MACHIASPORT – Harold N. Ackley, 82, passed away Jan. 21, 2005, in Machias, after a brief illness. He was born Dec. 11, 1922, in Whiting, the son of the late Wyman H. and Lettie B. (Huntley) Ackley. Harold attended the Charleston Pentecostal Church. He was a member of the Penobscot Conservation Club in Brewer. Harold worked for many years at the Sylvania Plant in Bangor. He loved fishing, hunting, and planting his garden. Harold is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Doris Ackley; son, Andrew Ackley and wife, Brenda; daughter, Pauline Doucette; grandchildren, Michelle Lape, Debbie Ackley, Raymond Williams and wife, Cheryl, Wayne Davenport and wife, Wendy, and Charlene Green and husband, James; great-grandchildren, Jessica Green, Courtney Green, Kristy Williams, Crystal Williams, Matthew (Ackley), and Kevin Quimby; many nieces and nephews, and special friends, Don and Bonnie. He was predeceased by a son, Nelson Ackley; and sister, Myrtle Pearson. At Harold’s request, there will be no funeral services.
