WINTERPORT – Harold Thornton Patterson Sr., 66, passed away peacefully, May 20, 2005, after a brief illness, at the Togus V.A. Hospital. He was born Sept. 11, 1938, in Winterport, the son of Thornton H. and Ruth (Parks) Patterson. Harold served in the U.S. Air Force and was a sergeant with the Bangor Police Dept. before retiring after 17 years of a service. Pat had also, during his life owned and operated trucks and construction equipment and had worked for several area trucking/contracting companies. A great passion and love in his life was his “Trike”. He so much loved to see the sunshine and ride his “Trike” that he worked on all winter, so he could take the summer off and ride. Harold was a member of the Brothers of the Third Wheel. His love of life was spread to all who knew him, in his enjoyment of practical jokes and the art of telling stories. His greatest enjoyment in life came from his children, especially his grandchildren, who were the delight of his heart. Harold was a large, but kind and gentle man who loved his little dog, Pebbles. Harold is survived by his children, Harold T. Patterson Jr. and his wife, Sherrie, of Veazie, Penny Lee Ward of Swanville, Torie Henry Patterson and his wife, Julie, of Thorndike and Trent Jay Patterson and his fianc?e, Wendy Wheaton, of Bangor; sister, Geraldine Clark and her husband, Joshua, of Winterport; brothers, Vincent Patterson and his wife, Verna, of Conventry, Conn. and Robert Patterson and his wife, Nancy, of Winterport; grandchildren, Hal, Kimberly, Jesse, Nicole, Kelly, Corey, Matthew and Ashley; three aunts; one uncle; nieces, nephews, cousins, and his companion, Linda Fanjoy of Winterport; and special friends, Dick and Shelia Jellison and Rollie and Thelma Houston, as well as many other special friends. He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Joyce M. Condon. Visiting hours will be held 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Avenue, Hampden, where a funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday.
