MONTICELLO – Harold U. Carmichael, 79, died Dec. 21, 2003, at his residence. He was born May 14, 1924, in Monticello, the son of Ernest and Ethel Florence (Upton) Carmichael. Harold was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, always being there for his family. He was a lifelong grower and shipper of potatoes and was part owner/operator of Carmichael Brothers Fruit & Produce. He is survived by three sons, Richard and his fianc‚e, Carol St. Pierre of Monticello, Jeffrey and his wife, Susan, of Houlton, Gregory and his wife, Joanne, of Monticello; two daughters, Rachel and her life partner, Douglas Bean, and Polly and her husband, Gary Joslyn, all of Monticello; one brother, Jack and his wife, Estrid, of Ludlow; one sister, Mary and her husband, Dana Tidd of Hodgdon; 21 grandchildren, Christopher, Sgt. James Carmichael, Heidi, Pvt. Philip, Brent, Jeffrey, Jason, Stephen, Misty, Brandis, Shannon, Jo-Ann, Andrew, Amanda, Jade, Shantteal, Skyler, Ashton, Kierra, Caleb, Jennifer and David; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; two special kids, Loretta Carpenter and Jeff Miller; a special neighbor, Alan Wiener and all of his special healthcare workers. He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley; daughter, Barbara Jean and two brothers, Glen and Perley. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Dunn Funeral Home where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Wayne Robertson and the Rev. Dan Morse officiating.
