WEST PORT ISLAND – Harold Wilbur Lilly, 87, formerly of West Port Island, passed away Friday, Feb. 2, 2007, at a Bangor health care facility. Harold was born May 12, 1919, in Dresden, a son of Irving and Ann (Chapman) Lilly. Harold was a heavy equipment operator in the construction field for many years. His last employment was with Consolidated Construction Co. of Portland. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the DAV Post No. 1, Togus and VFW Forest J. Pare Post No. 1285, Waterville. Harold was predeceased by his wife of 20 years, Shirley Upham Lilly in 1998. He is survived by his two sons, Carroll Lilly of Trenton and Harold W. Lilly of Whitefield; his two daughters, Madeline Anne Chapman of Charlotte, N.C., and Avis Stanley of Bar Harbor; stepson, William E. Norwood of Farmingdale; two stepdaughters, Joan M. Baillard of Manchester and Barbara A. Emery of Belmont; nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several stepgrandchildren, several great-stepgrandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Committal services with full military honors will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, in the chapel at Old Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta.
